[Editor 2.0] Protect documents with two-factor authentication
Note:
This feature is in beta. We will announce when we officially launch this feature.Availability: Enterprise
This feature helps you easily set up a unique passcode for each document recipient. Your recipients will need this passcode to access the document.
Set up a passcode
Start by opening the document. Then, click the Manage button at the top of the page, go to “Recipients” on the right, and click the recipient's name for whom you’d like to set up the passcode. Finally, switch on the toggle Authentication.
Once you add the passcode, you can easily copy and share it with your recipient.
Finish setting up your document, then send it out.
Recipient view
When your recipient opens the document, they’ll see a popup to enter the passcode.
Once they enter the correct passcode, they can access the document.
Note:
If the recipient for whom you set up a passcode has permission to view the document, they won’t need to enter the passcode. (Click here to learn more about Account roles and permissions.)Passcode Expiration Notice
If the recipient enters an incorrect passcode three times, they’ll need to contact the document sender for a new passcode.

You can check failed/successful authentication if you click on vertical ellipses menu on top of the page, then go to Document details "Latest activity".

To generate a new passcode for the recipient, go to Manage > Recipients > Recipient Name. Then, enter a new passcode under Authentication, and share it with the recipient.
Locating a passcode
If you forget a passcode you’ve set, you can recover it by going to Manage > Recipients > Recipient Name. You can then find the passcode under Authentication.
