Looking for the classic experience? See Review Audit trail for sent documents (classic experience).
Availability: Starter, Business, and Enterprise plans
Audit trail provides a step-by-step history of document status changes.
📘 Note: The new experience is being gradually rolled out to all customers. For a full overview of what's changed and current limitations, see New document and template experience (early access) and New PandaDoc editor.
Open the sent document, click File > Document > Audit trail, and you will see a list of activities for this document.
Note: You can export the document's Audit trail as a CSV file. To do this, select Export as CSV in the Audit trail panel.
This feature is enabled by default on Starter, Business, and Enterprise plans. To disable/enable back, go to the Extension > select Workspaces > uncheck/check workspaces where you'd like to disable/enable this feature, and select Save changes.
Actions displayed in the Audit trail
The Audit trail displays comprehensive document activity tracking. For documents, it shows actions like:
• Document creation, sending, and completion
• Viewing, signing, and approval activities
• Payment-related events (waiting for payment, paid, failed)
• Recipient management (added, edited, deleted, reassigned)
• Status changes (approved, rejected, declined, expired)
• Verification attempts and results, etc.
Note: The Audit trail also shows the email message sent to recipients when you shared the document. If you need to review what was written in the sending email, open the Audit trail and look for the Document sent event — it includes the message text.
You can access document audit trails by opening a sent document and clicking Audit trail in the top right.
