Find and report on documents with AI Search

Use AI Search to find documents by content, filter by AI-extracted contract data, and build custom reporting views.

Availability: Starter, Business, and Enterprise plans.

AI Search lets you find and report on documents using natural language and AI-extracted contract data.

There are three ways to use it:

  • Search Previews — a quick-glance panel with system data and AI-extracted contract details for any search result, straight in the search dropdown

  • AI Search — natural language queries that find documents by contract data

  • AI Reporting — filter, customize columns, and take bulk actions on your results

Search Previews

When you search from the document list, hovering over any result opens an AI-powered side panel. It shows a mix of system data (like created date, owner, and completion status) and AI-extracted data (like document type, counterparty name, renewal date, and an AI-generated summary) — without you needing to open the document. If AI Data Extraction isn't enabled on your account, the panel will show system data only.

This makes it easy to confirm you've found the right document before opening it, especially when multiple documents have similar names.

AI Search

For more targeted queries, type a natural language question directly into the search bar — for example, "agreements expiring in the next 90 days" or "completed NDAs with Brightfield Consulting" and select Ask AI.

The AI Assistant opens alongside your results and shows:

  • How many documents matched your query

  • Which documents were found

Select Show more in the chat to see AI search results unfolded on the left as the table with the most relevant columns for your query.

You can refine results by continuing the conversation in the Assistant panel. For example:

  • "Show only completed documents"

  • "Add contract value and signer name as columns"

  • "How about agreements with a 1-year renewal term?"

Note: AI Search uses data extracted from your documents by AI CLM. Results are only as complete as what's been extracted. AI can make mistakes — double-check important details.

AI Reporting

AI Search results double as a live report. The AI automatically selects the most relevant columns for your query. You can adjust them manually in the Columns menu, drag them into any order, or ask the Assistant — for example, "also show counterparty signer name and internal signer title."

Once you have the set of documents and columns you want, you can take action directly from the results view:

  • Select documents and move them to a folder

  • Download selected documents

  • Export to CSV — exports the document data currently visible in the results table. To customize what's included, add or remove columns before exporting, or ask the AI assistant to apply additional filters or columns first.

Note: AI Reporting works across all documents in your workspace, including imported ones. Documents must be completed or imported for AI data extraction to run on them.
