Salesforce Troubleshooting: Connection required (one-time setup)

This article explains how to troubleshoot the 'Connect Salesforce to get started' error in the new editor.

Updated over a week ago

If you're unable to run Salesforce workflows, you need to complete a one-time authorization.

  1. Upgrade your PandaDoc for Salesforce managed package to the latest version from AppExchange.

  2. Follow the steps below to authorize the integration.

Setup instructions

  1. From the left navigation, click Settings

  2. Click API and Integrations

  3. Select Salesforce

  4. Click “Connect Automations”

This will open an authentication window where you can complete the connection.

You can connect either a Salesforce Sandbox or a Salesforce Production environment. Please note that both cannot be used simultaneously. Therefore, if you are connecting to a Salesforce Sandbox, you must use a separate PandaDoc workspace. To use Production, ensure the Sandbox option is set to No in the modal above.

Once the setup is complete, all documents retrieving data from Salesforce will work correctly.

Why is this required if Salesforce is already connected?

You may have already connected Salesforce for other features within PandaDoc.

However, workflows rely on a separate connection designed specifically for automation.

  • Existing connections support standard features

  • Workflows require a dedicated authorization

For this reason, a one-time re-authorization by a PandaDoc admin is required.

Once completed, no further action will be needed and all Salesforce workflows will function as expected.

Note: If you do not have admin permissions, please contact your PandaDoc or Salesforce administrator and share this guide.
