Add bundled products from Catalog to quote builder

Once you’ve created your bundled products, you can add them to the quote builder block in the same way you add all other products — simply add a quote builder block, then select it and the +Product from catalog button. Finally, select bundled items from the catalog picker. Items with product bundles have a useful indicator under their names that shows the number of products in the batch.

When you add a bundled item to the quote builder block, you'll see the batched products under the name of this product bundle. You can then easily fold the list by selecting Hide products, or unfold them by selecting Show products.

With recipient options enabled (quantity editing or optional items), document signers will be able to only change the quantity or select the whole batch. They’ll be unable to modify a quantity or select items included in the bundle.

Make bundled items optional

Our new feature allows you to make bundled items optional in a quote builder block. With this functionality, any user regardless of their account role can designate specific items within a bundle as optional, preselect or unselect them if needed, and ensure their selection impacts the overall bundle pricing accordingly.

  1. Click the three-dot menu next to the bundled item.

  2. Enable the Optional item toggle.

  3. When you make items optional they'll be pre-selected by default. You can uncheck the option to unselect it for the recipients if needed.

Selecting or deselecting the item will update the total bundle price based on the selected pricing method.

If an optional item is selected, it contributes to the bundle's total price when the Price calculation method is set to Bundle subtotal.

Important: Recipients can interact with optional items within a bundle when viewing the quote only if they are designated as document signers and have at least one assigned field.

Bundle products in quote builder

Note: You can bundle up to 25 products.

  1. Ensure the Create custom products toggle is on.

  2. Select +Product to add a new product.

  3. Hover over the product name field and click the expand icon to fill out the product bundle fields.

  4. Under 'Product bundle', select +Products from catalog to choose existing items or create new ones by clicking +Custom product.

  5. You can easily update or delete bundled products by clicking on the menu on the far right to its name and selecting Edit it or Delete from the drop-down.

  6. Scroll up and select the 'Price calculation method' for the product bundle – this can be either a custom amount or calculated based on the total of the bundled items.

  7. If necessary, set up the bundle pricing as Recurring and select Save at the top right.

Edit product bundles in quote builder

To edit products bundled in your catalog make sure you have Edit existing products toggle switched on.

After that, select the vertical ellipses (three dots) at the far right of the product listing, then select Edit item from the dropdown menu.

In the modal window, scroll down to "Product bundle" and click on the menu on the far right to a product name. Select "Edit" from the dropdown to update an item.

To reorder items in a bundle simply drag an item and drop it to the place you need.

Click Save at the top right once done.

Mixed pricing models support in product bundles

Note: As we’re gradually releasing this functionality to our customers, you might not see it within your account right away.

PandaDoc now supports mixed pricing models in Product bundles, allowing you to include both one-time and recurring products in a single bundle regardless of their pricing model.

Note: You’ll be unable to add one product bundle into another.

Warning: You’ll be unable to import bundled items from your CRM or update them in your CRM from PandaDoc. The feature is also not supported via the public API.

You can add both one-time and recurring products from the catalog picker to a product bundle in either the Catalog or the Quote builder block.

  • The Pricing section updates automatically based on the selected products.

  • If all included products are recurring with the same billing frequency, the one-time/recurring toggle is disabled and defaults to Recurring.

Note: Volume-based recurring products are supported both as a bundle itself and as items inside a bundle.

When bundle price calculation method is set to Bundle subtotal

When you set your product bundle to calculate the price with Bundle subtotal, the fields in the Pricing section will disappear, as well as Bundle Price, Price per item, and Total column values on the quote builder block.

The bundle rows include by default:

  • Quantity (editable by sales reps and recipients if recipient options are enabled).

  • Overall total value.

  • Applicable discounts, taxes, and fees.

  • Contract term adjustments:

    • You can set contract terms for bundled items, affecting overall bundle pricing.

    • If an item has an infinite contract term, only the first payment is calculated.

Note: Price per item and Savings columns are not supported.

Overall total = (SUM(line item price * qty * contract term) - line item discount + line item fee + line item tax) * bundle qty

Note: If the bundle includes a volume-based product, the bundle quantity does not affect the pricing of that product.

You can show or hide bundled item columns in the quote builder by selecting the column header and toggling the Show within bundle option on or off.

When bundle price calculation method is Custom amount

  • The bundle behaves like a regular product.

  • Bundled item values are ignored, and you can manually define the bundle’s price and cost.

Section subtotals & payment calculation

One-time subtotal calculation:

  • One-time regular products subtotal + (one-time product bundle subtotal × bundle qty × bundle multiplier) - section discount + section fee + section tax (if price calculator method = Bundle subtotal)

  • If price calculator method = Custom amount, the one-time bundle subtotal is used directly.

Recurring subtotal calculation:

  • Recurring products are grouped by billing frequency.

  • Recurring subtotal = SUM(recurring line item price * qty - line item discount + line item fee + line item tax) (for all items with the same billing frequency) - section discount + section fee + section tax

  • If price calculator method = Custom amount, the bundle total is included in the recurring subtotal.

Initial payment calculation:

  • Initial payment = one-time subtotal + SUM (recurring subtotals per each billing frequency).

Total section value calculation:

  • Section total = one-time subtotal + SUM(recurring line item subtotal * contract term)

Customize product bundles in quote builder

In the quote builder, product bundles offer various customization options for how they appear to your recipients. To access these settings, go to the Design tab in the quote builder editing mode and scroll down to the Product bundle section. Here, you can customize the following:

  • The display of products within a bundle and their descriptions.

  • The color and thickness of the divider between bundled items.

  • Whether to collapse or expand bundled products by default.

  • The display and text of the 'included' label.

You can customize the typography for the bundle and for the bundled products separately.
