How to set up recipient redirect after document completion

Warning: Redirect after completion can't be used with Forms.

Note: If you share documents via links, you’ll need to set up Redirect after completion in a template or while creating a document. You’ll be unable to set it up in an already-created document before you generate links.

There are three ways you can set up redirect after document completion for your recipients:

  • In a template: This method is ideal if you want to set up the same redirect for all signers.

  1. In your template, go to Manage roles tab along the right panel

  2. Turn on the Redirect after completion toggle

  3. Add the URL of the redirect page, and select Apply

Note: The link must use a https protocol.

When creating a document from this template, the applied redirect link will appear under each recipient and can be customized before sending a document.

  • While creating a document from scratch, or from a template: This option allows you to easily set up different redirects for multiple recipients.

  1. If you have opened a template simply select Use this template at the top right.
If you are in your document list, start by selecting +Document. Select an existing template or +Blank to create a new document from scratch. If you have a PDF or .docx file, you can drag and drop it to the upload area.

  2. Next, assign a recipient, then turn the toggle for Redirect after completion.

    Note:

You’ll be unable to set up redirects after completion for recipients within a recipient group.

  3. Once you’ve turned on the toggle, you can add a URL where you’d like to redirect them after completion.

  4. Once you've set up the recipient redirect, select Continue. Finish setting up your document, then send it.

Note: When setting up redirect after completion while creating a document from a template or from scratch, you can add a redirect URL for any document recipient. However, the redirect after completion feature is only available for recipients who have at least one field assigned to them (signers). Because of this, you'll want to ensure that you assign at least one field to recipients in the created document so they can be redirected after completing it.

  • Before sending a document: This option allows you to set up redirect after completion if you haven’t enabled it in a template, or while creating a document.

  1. When your document is ready and you’ve added document recipients, select Send and select Email/Text (SMS) from the dropdown

  2. Turn on the toggle for Redirect after completion for any recipients you’d like to redirect after document completion, then add a specific URL

    Note:

The link must use a https protocol.

  3. Select Continue, then send your document

How to autofill recipient redirect field with a link from Salesforce

Note: To use this feature, you need to have the most recent versionof the PandaDoc <> Salesforce integration.

You can auto-populate the redirect after completion link with a field in Salesforce. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Find Pandadoc Setup in the App Launcher

  2. Scroll down to Salesforce to PandaDoc data flow and click Configure tokens

  3. Next, navigate to the Opportunity and select the field with a link on the left

  4. Then, on the right side, scroll to the bottom and map the selected field under Redirect URL

  5. Don't forget to select Save at the top of the page to apply changes

Now each time you create a document from Salesforce, the mapped field will be automatically pulled to the Redirect after completion field in your PandaDoc document.

FAQ

I have a document that I want to share via link. How do I set up redirect after completion in this case?

Simply follow these steps:

  1. Select Send > via Email / Text (SMS)

  2. Set up redirect links as described here

  3. Close the ‘Review recipients’ dialog

Your redirect links will be saved, and you can proceed to generating and sharing document links.

Recipient view

Once your recipient has completed filling in all fields assigned to them and selected Finish to finalize the document, it will move to completed status. At this point, the recipient will see a message that they’ll be redirected to a different page in a few moments.

Note: If you’ve connected a payment integration (e.g. Stripe) and added a payment app to your document, the redirect will take place after the document is paid.

The redirect page will automatically open within three seconds. It can also be accessed by selecting the link within the dialog.

Note: Recipients will be unable to reopen the redirect page if they decide to return to the document.

You can review all recipient redirects under Latest activity in the Document info panel.
