Which Salesforce objects the Pull data from integration step supports

The Pull data from integration step on a template works with Opportunity and Quote. Documents can still be created from any other Salesforce object, directly from Salesforce.

What the Pull data from integration step does

Adding the Pull data from integration step to a template and connecting a Salesforce object makes template setup easier:

  • Fields from that object become available as variables in the template editor, so you can insert them from the variables panel instead of copying field API names out of Salesforce.

  • When someone creates a document from the template in PandaDoc, they can select a record of that object, and the variables are filled in automatically.

Supported objects

The step supports two objects: Opportunity and Quote.

Note: Quote here means the standard Salesforce Quote object. Salesforce CPQ quotes (SBQQ__Quote__c) aren't supported by this step.

You can still use any other Salesforce object

The Pull data from integration step is a shortcut for setting up variables on a template — it isn't required to create PandaDoc documents from Salesforce, and it doesn't limit which objects you can use.

Documents can be created from any Salesforce object — Account, Contact, Lead, Case, Contract, custom objects, and others. To do that, set the object up on the PandaDoc Setup page in Salesforce (choose the fields to pass as variables, the relationships to use for recipients and line items, and map those fields), then create the document from the record in the PandaDoc Documents component on that record's page.

In short: if your object isn't in the Pull data from integration step's list, configure it in Salesforce and start the document there instead.
