This guide will walk you through setting up and using the Close integration to create documents with dynamically populated content from your CRM data.
Note: This integration is in closed beta. If you’d like to enable it for your account, reach out to our Support team.
Connect Close in PandaDoc
Navigate to Settings > API and Integrations in PandaDoc
Locate and select Close from the available integrations
Click Connect to begin the integration setup
Select Allow to grant PandaDoc access to your Close organization
That's it! Your Close integration is now connected and ready to use.
Link integration to your template
Create a new template or open an existing one
Select +Add step and select Pull data from integration step
Select Close
Select the object you'll be pulling the data from. You can select Opportunities, Contacts, or Leads.
Add dynamic variables
Select Go to editor on the Variables button to add variables to the template.
Hover over a variable (data field from the selected object in Close) and select Copy. Then paste it in a text block in your template.
You can also add a variable directly within a text block. Click inside the block, type an open square bracket, choose the object you want to pull the variable from, then select the specific variable. It will be inserted at your cursor, highlighted in yellow.
Add all the variables you need and click Save changes at the top right.
Configure merge fields
You can pass data from Close opportunities into PandaDoc fields similarly to how variables operate. Unlike with variables, however, you must not include square brackets - you can simply select the field you need from the Merge field data.
Select a field or add a new one
In Properties on the right, the Merge field data source should list the ‘Close opportunity’
You can search and select the needed Close opportunity field to pre-populate them for the recipients
Generate a document
Select Use this template to start document generation.
Choose the specific Opportunity/Contact/Leads record you want to use
Add document recipients.
Select Edit document at the top right and preview the document to verify all variables are populated correctly. Add missing details if needed
Select Continue to editor to review the generated document to ensure all information is accurate
Select Review and send at the top right to review document settings, add an email message, and send the document
Limitations
The integration is compatible only with pandadoc.com (not pandadoc.eu).
A PandaDoc admin user must install the app and connect it for each workspace.
You can connect only one data source (Opportunity, Contact, or Lead) per PandaDoc template.
Close does not include a native Quote object. All document management is handled through the PandaDoc widget on deal, contact, and company detail pages.
Documents created from a Close object will not appear on its associated objects. For example, a document created from a deal will not appear on the associated contact or company.
