Volume-based products use pricing tiers that vary by purchase quantity, supporting both flat and percentage-based discount pricing. You’ll need to import these products separately from single items to ensure accurate data handling.

Create and import CSV with volume-based products
Download our Sample CSV for Volume-Based Products to use as your template for catalog import.
If your catalog already includes volume-based products and you want to quickly update them in bulk, you can export the catalog as outlined below, make the necessary changes in the CSV file, and re-import it. Volume-based products with matching SKUs in your catalog, templates, and CLIs will be automatically updated.
Each SKU requires multiple rows to define the pricing tiers for volume-based products. The Tier Quantity Min column establishes the minimum purchase quantity, with additional fields for discount type and percentage discount, as detailed below.

Notes:
Flat vs. Percentage discount – If the Discount type is “percentage,” the Percentage discount column requires a value. If the Discount type is “flat,” the percentage column is ignored.
Source row – Each SKU must have a row where Price Tier Min = 1 to establish the baseline price.
Consistent descriptions – Only the first instance of the Product Description, Name, and other SKU-specific fields is imported.
Import process
In PandaDoc, go to Catalog.
Select the small arrow next to Product button > Import > Volume-based products.
Upload the prepared CSV file and click Start import.
An import notification will be sent to your email once processing is complete. Confirm your volume-based products are listed correctly in the Catalog.
How to update existing volume-based products
Note: Currently, volume-based products auto-update in the Quote Builder only, not in pricing tables.
To update volume-based products in your templates or Content library items:
Export the current catalog of volume-based products (see steps below).
Edit the exported CSV, ensuring any modified fields retain the correct SKU for mapping.
Import the updated CSV with the same process as above.
Tip: Always use consistent SKUs for accurate mapping.
An import notification will be sent to your email once processing is complete. Confirm your volume-based products are updated correctly in the templates and content library items they’ve been added.
Export volume-based products
Volume-based products are exported separately from flat-priced items:
Navigate to Catalog.
Select Export at the top right.
When exporting, CSV files for single and volume-based products are compressed into a single downloadable archive.
Troubleshooting
If an import fails:
Ensure all required fields (e.g., Price Tier Min, Discount Type) are populated.
Validate field formats, especially for Percentage Discount and Price Tier Min.
Check for consistent descriptions and unique SKUs.
Error messages will appear under the uploaded file if issues are detected.
