PandaDoc + Canva: Tips and Tricks
PandaDoc’s newest integration is with the fastest growing online design platform, Canva. With Canva you can design professional-looking marketing and promo materials in just a few minutes. With this integration, you can access Canva’s extensive library of images, illustrations, fonts, and design templates right from PandaDoc.
How to Add Canva content to PandaDoc
There are three ways of adding Canva items to a PandaDoc template or document. The first way is to add an item above, between, or after a page is by clicking the + icon. This adds the Canva item as a stand-alone page within the document:
You can also add Canva items within an existing PandaDoc Page by clicking on the + icon that appears when hovering on the page:
And lastly, you can add a Canva item to an Image Block by clicking on the block and selecting Canva under the Media section.
Note: Canva offers several size options for their pre-made templates, including landscape. Regardless of size, all items added as a page are added as a portrait page to a PandaDoc template or document.
Using Canva to Crop images for PandaDoc
With Canva, you can crop or mask images easily. In this quick example, I will create a shape mask for a headshot.
In Canva, on the top right, click on ‘Create Design’ from here; I picked the pre-sized Instagram option. Once the page loads, on the left toolbar, you’ll see ‘Elements.’ Here, you’ll find some basic shapes and frames. Drag the shape you want into the canvas and resize, so it takes up the entire canvas.
Next, click on ‘Uploads’ on the left; you can upload or pick from a previously uploaded image. Click and drag the image overtop the shape and you should see the image magically crop behind the shape:
Now, we are going to add this image to our PandaDoc template.
First, place an image block where you would like it, then click the block and select Canva. When the Canva integration loads, click on ‘Folders,’ and then ‘All your designs,’ click on the image you wish to use, and then on the top right click ‘Publish.’
Once the image is added to PandaDoc, you can then resize, adjust the margins and padding.
Canva GIF Content
Canva has some pretty great features, and one of those is animations. Unfortunately, adding these items directly to PandaDoc through the integration will not result in an animated image. But, there is a workaround: download the animated Canva content as a GIF.
To add the GIF to PandaDoc, I would suggest using a Cover Page and remove all the standard blocks except for the Image Block. After the blocks are removed, click the Image Block to upload the GIF. After uploading the GIF, you can then resize the image to fit the page.
Canva + Video
Canva can add a video to your project; however, if you import one of these into PandaDoc, the content imports as a static image and the video is not playable. You can add a Canva image to PandaDoc and then add a Video Block over top of the Canva image.
Canva + Any Block
You can also add any Content Block or Field on top of a Canva Image uploaded as a page in PandaDoc.
