Customize Individual Blocks: Background Colors and Padding

You may be aware that you can setup Template themes for designing and making sure your documents look great and fit your brand, but did you know you can customize individual blocks too?

In this post, we’ll be going over just some of the customization options within various blocks:

Text Blocks

By clicking the Text block, at the top of the block you’ll see the options, click the Properties icon. On the right you’ll see options for Background, Advanced Formatting, Restrict Editing, and Actions.

Changing Background Colors

You can change the background color of a block to closer match your branding or just bring in some added design and style to your templates. To access: Properties > Background color, you can then pick a color or add in specific HEX color of your branding.

Changing Padding

Changing Padding allows the text within the block to be be moved or appear further away from the borders of the block.

Since the background is now a gray, let's first change the font color for this block: Select all the text and at the top tool bar click the A to pick a new color:

Now, we can change the Padding: Properties > Advanced Formatting and give the padding a positive number.

Image Block

Within an image block you can also change the padding and background color, this is perfect for creating frames or for creating a look of a continuous piece of content

Frame Example

Click the block: Properties > Advanced formatting > Padding. Then change the padding to the desired amount, you will notice the image seems to have gotten smaller. Now, change the background image

Continuous Piece Example

This one is a little trickier. For this we would have two blocks side-by-side and involves the use of changing the background color, padding, and margins. The only added step is changing the margins to move the blocks closer together. For the example below I have a text block and an image block side-by-side.

You can do the same background color, padding and margins trick within Video Blocks too!

I understand you are inquiring about the ability to change the Field colors for each signer. Upon further review, I have confirmed that this functionality isn’t available at this time. I do apologize for the trouble here.

Multiple users have reached out about this, and a feature request has been submitted in our idea portal. You may submit another vote for that, add a comment, and even subscribe to receive updates as the status of the request changes. We appreciate feedback about this so that we can continue to improve the product to serve your team better.

Is there a way to change the color for each signer? For some reason the last few documents I have created have opted for nearly identical colors for all of the signers (i.e. green and slightly-different-green) which is tough to differentiate for all and impossible for anyone with colorblindness. Any help would be appreciated :)
