Hi thanks for the feedback, please be sure to add this to our User Voice where we collect user ideas and others can vote on them as well.

While there is no way to select and assign Fields in the way you've described. It sounds like even if you are in a template or an uploaded document you should be able to assign the Fields to either the Role or the Recipient first and then drag the needed fields into place:

Additionally, you can if you've uploaded a document and then added fields and all the Fields need to be assigned to one recipient, you can do this once you click Send Document > Send via Email; the system will prompt you to assign fields individually but at the top right you can click 'Assign All' and pick with recipient you would like to fill the fields.

More information on this can be found below:

Additionally, if you have an uploaded document as a template with fields already in place you now have the ability to replace the source document (the uploaded document). You can find more information on that feature here

I second this thought!  I won't ever have a situation where I don't want ALL of the fields filled out by the same person.  Having to manually set each and every one is very tedious.

If this is not something that has been done yet (I can't find evidence that it has) this would be SUPER helpful. HR documents have several fields and to have to click into each one to assign is extremely tedious.

I was surprised by this as well.  I uploaded a PDF with about 50 fields, i need them all but two assigned to a role.

Here is a workaround to the issue of uploading a PDF as a Template and the automatically added fields not being assigned.

When you upload the document and the fields are added a Role will automatically be created called 'Client', at the template level the fields will not be assigned, but when you create a document and click send > via email all Fields will be assigned to the one Role. After the Document naming popup, close out of the Email window and you'll see the fields are assigned.

Now, click 'Manage' near the top right of the screen and add a second recipient. Once added click on the fields that need to be re-assigned.

After this, you could send the document but I would recommend making a template out of this version of the document:

A new template will be created and the Fields should be assigned to 'Role 1' and 'Role 2' - you can then change the name of the Roles by clicking 'Manage' > click the Role > 'rename Role.' Depending on the number of Fields there may be multiple Roles listed but you can quickly reassign those to the correct Roles when deleting the Role from the list.

This might not be the most intuitive workaround, so we would love to hear your suggestions.

OK I just found a glitch that's a wonky workaround:

    1. In the Content menu, select the person you want to assign fields to, as though you were going to create new fields.

    2. Delete all the fields you want to assign to them.

    3. Undo the deletions with Ctrl + Z.

    4. Double check each field, because it doesn't always work 100%. Still helps.

***A batch reassign and format feature is SUPER needed.***
