Salesforce: Adding Negative Product Quantities to a Pricing Table
By: Paula Martins
If you are using negative Quantities in your Opportunity Products and the PandaDoc Integration, you may have come across this error - item quantity is negative. How can it be solved??
Unmapping the Quantity field
First, you need to unmap the Quantity Field from the Pricing item Mappings in the PandaDoc Setup.
For that, click your App Launcher button and search for PandaDoc Setup. Click on it.
Scroll down to “Salesforce to PandaDoc data flow” and click on “Configure Pricing Items”.
Next, click on the Quantity Field and select the blank option.
Don’t forget to Save!
Creating a new Quantity Text field in the Pricing Table
Even though you can’t use the native Quantity for the Pricing Table calculation, you can do this workaround:
In Salesforce, create a Formula Text property to write the Quantity to. One example of a Formula is: TEXT(Quantity). This is to do the conversion from Number to Text automatically.
You will now need to modify your Pricing Table on your Template.
Click on your Pricing Table and create a new Text column.
Afterward, select Properties and Set up data merge.
Map the new Pricing Table column name to the Field Name in Salesforce. If you don’t know how to get the Field Name, please check this guide (section: Passing Salesforce fields into PandaDoc).
The Pricing Table now looks like this (see the below image). Don’t forget that you change the header “Text” to something of your liking!
If you now use the Salesforce integration to create a new document, this is what the Pricing Table will look like:
Summary
This is a quick workaround to have the Pricing Table show negative values. The new Text Quantity is not actually making calculations, it’s just for presenting reasons. Don’t forget that you can play around with the Price mapping as well to get your desired results!
