PandaDoc has design options to help you create beautiful documents. With these options, you can change the heading font, text font, theme color, background image and paper size.
Design settings are only available for editable templates and documents
To access design settings, open your template and click ...More > Design
You will have two options:
- Customize available design parameters under Styles
- Create your own theme or use a ready-made one under Themes.
Working with ready-made themes
Here you can pick from the catalog of themes prepared by the PandaDoc team. Click on one to apply it.
To edit a custom theme, click Edit theme and confirm.
Those changes will affect all templates and documents that use this theme
Deleting custom themes
You can delete any of your custom themes. Just click on the red X in the top right of the custom theme. This will not affect existing documents which are using theme.
Setting a master theme
You can set up a theme to use on all new documents and templates. This is found in PandaDoc Settings > Settings > Default Theme.
Working with design options
Under Styles you will find two font options: for headings and for text blocks (including table blocks and pricing tables.)
Theme color will apply to Table headers, Table of contents (TOC) and hyperlinks. In some design themes (including Basic), theme color is also applied to H3 headings.
With Background image you can set a background that shows up behind your document. Recommended size is 1280(w)x1024(h) px or larger. PandaDoc also supports PNG, JPG, and GIF.
The background type dropdown allows you to change image layout.
Background images will not appear on your document's PDF version
Paper size allows you to set your document’s PDF to A4 or US letter format.
With Custom CSS you can style your document on a more advanced level: import a Google font, change margins, etc.
NoteCSS is an advanced coding language, thus you need beginner skills to apply it. You can check out our CSS guide for more information.
Two options to save your design changes
- Save for this template only.
PandaDoc autosaves periodically, so you don’t have to click a button to save your changes.
- Save as a custom theme for other templates.
Click Save as new theme.
Give it a name.
Click Save. This new theme will now show up under Design > Themes.
